Buttons, Buttons

Buttons, Buttons, originally uploaded by sarahleeab.

After what could be considered the longest blog post sojourn in history… I’m back and I’m excited to announce that I’ve placed my first item up for sale on Etsy.

These little beauties are being sold in packs on 4.

ad-free blogging.

There’s something a little funny about advertising that your blog is ad-free. Some of my favorite blogs have ads. The ad free blog website (where I found the button below), outlines the concept with the following statement:

ad free button

By using this icon on my website I am stating…

1. That I am opposed to the use of corporate advertising on blogs.

2. That I feel the use of corporate advertising on blogs devalues the medium.

3. That I do not accept money in return for advertising space on my blog.

Looks like it’s not really about being ad-free, but corporation free. Is there something particularly heinous about limited liability? Does corporate advertising necessarily devalue a medium or the content of that medium? Does corporate sponsorship qualify as advertising? The ad-free site has a faq that answers a few questions and hints at the author’s ‘philosophical position’ but it doesn’t address the bigger epistomological issues.

a quiet and contemplative moment.

it’s been too long.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I’ve been away from this blog for far too long.

In celebration of Friday’s release of Harry Pottery and the Deathly Hallows, I’ve put together a few images.

On the retail front

This isn’t really the newest of news for most living in the Chapel Hill area, but just in case you missed it, a Trader Joe’s will open late fall in the Eastgate Shopping Center. (see the full, but brief, News & Observer article here)

sephora ultablog Funny, I never realized how similar the store designs were until now.

Cosmetic retailers Sephora and Ulta will be opening shop in the Streets at Southpoint mall and the Renaissance Center at Southpoint, respectively. Exciting news for those of us who enjoy such frivolities.

Now I guess I’ll just have to hold out for an Ikea (Charlotte beat out the Triangle on this for now) and an Anthropologie (again, Charlotte is a step ahead).
